چکیده

Abstract Background The 2020 treatment guidelines for patients diagnosed with nontuberculous mycobacterial lung disease (NTMLD) recommend antibiotic initiation rather than “watchful waiting” most patients. Little is known regarding how delayed (DT) may impact healthcare resource utilization (HRU). goal of this study was to assess HRU early (ET) or DT in NTMLD. Methods We conducted a retrospective observational cohort using MarketScan claims from July 2014 June 2020. Inclusion criteria were: ≥ 2 NTMLD medical (with date first claim as index date); continuous enrollment spanning 12 months pre–index (baseline) 24 post–index date; concomitant antibiotics used NTMLD, ie, drug classes within 28 days each other; and no tuberculosis diagnosis. Mean time (TT) define ET (TT ≤ 3 months) > groups. Trends hospitalizations (any, respiratory-related) any outpatient visits at baseline, year 1 (Y1), (Y2) were described. Results A total 518 included: 395 (76%) 123 (24%) tended be younger male; had higher prevalence emphysema, asthma, bronchiectasis. decrease baseline the proportion hospitalized mean number Y1 Y2 (Figure 1A 1B). an increase Y1, followed by Y2, although remained baseline. Diagnosis and Treatment of Nontuberculous Mycobacterial Lung Disease

Nontuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) are ubiquitous organisms; their isolation from clinical specimens does not always indicate clinical disease. The incidence of NTM lung diseases has been increasing worldwide. Although the geographic diversity of NTM species is well known, Mycobacterium avium complex (MAC), M. abscessus complex (MABC), and M. kansasii are the most commonly encountered and import...

Diagnosis and Treatment of Nontuberculous Mycobacterial Lung Disease: Clinicians' Perspectives.

Nontuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) are emerging pathogens that affect both immunocompromised and immunocompetent patients. The incidence and prevalence of NTM lung disease are increasing worldwide and rapidly becoming a major public health problem. For the diagnosis of NTM lung disease, patients suspected to have NTM lung disease are required to meet all clinical and microbiologic criteria. The ...

Adjuvant surgical treatment of nontuberculous mycobacterial lung disease.

BACKGROUND According to the 2007 American Thoracic Society/Infectious Diseases Society of America statement on nontuberculous mycobacterial diseases, more evidence for the benefits of adjuvant nontuberculous mycobacterial lung disease surgical intervention is needed before its wide application can be recommended. METHODS A retrospective review was conducted of 60 consecutive patients who met ...

Nontuberculous mycobacterial disease and Aspergillus-related lung disease in bronchiectasis.

The aim of the present study was to determine whether patients with bronchiectasis and nontuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) have a higher prevalence of Aspergillus-related lung disease. A series of 30 consecutive patients with bronchiectasis and NTM (cases) were compared with 61 patients with bronchiectasis and no evidence of NTM (controls). Aspergillus serology and computerised tomography of the ...
